Description
Ranger was rescued from the Riverside County Animal Shelter, where overcrowding often forces euthanasia—even with California’s no-kill law in place. He was on the shelter’s “Red List,” meaning he faced immediate euthanasia. Along with two other dogs, Jet and Honey, Ranger was adopted by a couple who wanted to give these dogs a second chance, despite having only minutes to meet them in a crowded, high-stress environment.
At about one year old at the time of adoption, Ranger quickly settled into his new home and bonded with his housemates. He and Jet turned out to be energetic and playful, while Honey preferred a quiet, relaxed pace. Eventually, Honey was placed in a peaceful home that better suited her temperament.
As time passed, Ranger showed himself to be highly intelligent, affectionate, and eager to learn—he thrived in professional training and loved engaging with his people. However, he also began showing signs of anxiety, especially around sudden noises and surprises. When the family welcomed a newborn, Ranger’s anxiety escalated with the baby’s crying and unpredictable movements. Despite efforts to help him adjust, it became clear that the home environment could no longer meet his emotional needs.
Now just over two years old, Ranger is looking for a home where he can truly flourish.
