Description
LEOLeo arrived at Los Barrios pound in June 2025 and was about 5.5 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous Crossbreed that was handed in by his owner.
Leo – A Gentle Soul Ready for a Home..
Leo was handed in by his owner, and at first he struggled with the sudden change from a home to a cage. Understandably, he arrived with fear and confusion.
With time, patience, and care, Leo has now settled beautifully at the Pound. He has learned to trust again and is no longer wary of people. Today, he greets everyone with kindness and shows what a truly sweet and affectionate boy he is.
Leo gets along well with female dogs and is currently sharing his cage happily with a female companion. He hasn’t been tested with males yet. One thing that hasn’t changed is his love for water – splashing around is still his favourite way to enjoy his time outside.
Leo is also great on the lead. On walks along rural roads, he doesn’t seem bothered by passing dogs, people, or cars. He’s happy to pause in the shade, enjoy a few treats, and settle in for a cuddle. His calm, friendly demeanor makes every walk a pleasure.
Leo recently went on a little trip to the local town together with his penmate, Brave, and he was just over the moon. After more than half a year at the pound, it was clear how much he enjoyed finally getting out and experiencing something new.
He jumped straight into the car and, full of excitement, rolled around on the back seat as if he simply couldn’t contain his joy. Then he settled next to one of the volunteers and travelled calmly all the way to town.
Once there, Leo did really well. In the beginning he pulled a little on the lead, simply because he wanted to take in all the new smells and sensations — completely understandable after so long in the same environment. But he quickly found his rhythm and walked beautifully. He wasn’t bothered at all by traffic, people walking by, or other dogs. He just enjoyed the outing.
During the little breaks he was absolutely adorable, happily showing off his tricks by sitting nicely for a treat or offering his paw.
On the way back to the pound he relaxed again on the back seat and travelled calmly, showing how well he can settle outside the pound environment.
Leo did incredibly well on his trip. He is a joyful, sensitive, and very sociable dog who is more than ready to find a loving home where he can finally enjoy the care and stability he deserves.
Although he remains confined for many hours each day, Leo’s gentle and loving personality shines through. He really deserves the chance to leave the cage behind and start a new chapter in a forever home.
If you can offer Leo safety, stability, and love, he will reward you with endless loyalty and affection.
